The New Year Ceremony for the Tokyo Fire Department (also known as Dezome-shiki) is filled with emergency vehicles and performances that highlight the triumphs of the Tokyo Fire Department.
Important note: All seats for the outdoor performances are sold out this year, but you can find some smaller shows inside Tokyo Big Sight East Exhibition Building East Halls 7 and 8.
What happens?
In the outdoor parking lot of the Tokyo Big Sight East Building, there will be fire engine processions, firefighting performances (including real flames), a marching band, wood-carrying, ladder-riding, and more.
If you can’t get tickets to the outdoor performances, there will also be smaller displays and shows inside Tokyo Big Sight (from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.).
