Azabudai Hills Mori JP Tower (Tallest Building in Japan)

As of its opening in 2023, the 325.2m Mori JP Tower in Azabudai Hills is the tallest building in Japan. It’s been called a “multi-purpose complex”, but what exactly does that mean?

We’ve covered the hot spots in the whole Azabudai Hills complex, so here we’ll focus on the tower itself.

The 33rd floor of the Mori JP Tower holds the Sky Lobby, a large, free-to-visit, observation area. The open-plan space has floor-to-ceiling windows that look out across Tokyo. The western windows give you a glimpse of Mt. Fuji and the surrounding skyscrapers. Southeast offers views of Tokyo Tower, and to the north, you’ll find Skytree.

If you want a bite with the view, the Hills House Dining area has three small spots on the 33rd and 34th floors. You can stop in for a pastry, drink, or full meal with a tableside view of the city unfolding away from you.

Dining at Mori JP Tower

Aside from the Hills House options on the 33rd and 34th floors, most of Mori JP Tower’s dining options are closer to the ground. The 1st to 4th floors of the tower include a large area called the Tower Plaza, which hosts most of the restaurants.

Their offerings are a mix of different cuisines and cultures, with an emphasis on high-quality (and rather expensive) fare. From pizza to steak and sushi, it’s all freshly prepared and often presented by fancy chefs who’ve earned their stripes abroad.

For a cheaper and quicker option, you can stop in at one of the cafés dotted between the larger restaurants. Small coffee roasters, Starbucks, and smoothie specialists are dotted around the plaza area. There are also two foodtrucks in the garden area outside, selling coffee, ice cream and crepes.

Shopping

You can find several stores on the lower floors of Mori JP Tower, mostly selling clothing and jewelery. Brand names such a Lululemon, UGG, and Maison Hirotaka all have small boutiques in the Tower Plaza. There are also a few general stores in the area, including a Family Mart and a drug store.

Facilities

Mori JP Tower has a built-in post office and Seven Bank ATM. You can find these facilities in the Tower Plaza area.
