Jinbōchō (also commonly written using archaic romanization as Jimbocho) is renowned as the centre of Tokyo’s second hand book trade. While most are Japanese books, there are also English second hand books available.
If you’re looking for (pricey) historical books and oddities, look for the Isseido book store on Yasukuni Dori just to the north of Jimbocho Station. The second floor has a fascinating collection of English books, calendars and postcards – some dating back to the 19th century.
Heading slightly further along Yasukuni Dori, Book Town transmogrifies into Sports Town with Tokyo’s biggest concentration of sports equipment and clothing related retailers.
