In Japanese, ‘Ningyo’ means puppet or doll. With a definite downtown ‘shitamachi’ feel, Ningyocho is, as the name suggests, the place where puppet and doll makers traditionally plied their craft. Although there are still a few of these shops around, Ningyocho is predominantly an office district these days.
